Inspired by motorcycles, glamorous excess, and the allure of the open road, The Blonds have once again outdone themselves with their collection for Fall 2012. With the likes of Lil’ Kim and Adam Lambert in the front row and a futuristic-looking motorcycle on the runway, it isn’t difficult to imagine the eclectically fabulous, high-energy scene that was set for designers David and Philippe Blond’s “Live Fast Die Blond”-themed show.

This season marked the design duo’s first foray into menswear; well-muscled male models exhibited studded leather jackets, tight pants, and tee shirts in chain prints that The Blonds photographed themselves. The daring womenswear made more of an impact: a skin tight, leopard-printed mini-dress, a black leather jumpsuit covered with pailletes, and a gold spike-printed motorcycle jacket with leggings to match were some of the more understated looks to come down the runway. The real show-stoppers were the corsets: one channeled Michael Jackson’s Thriller video in red leather with black trim and zippers, two crystal corsets resembled explosions of oversized red and orange crystals on one and deep and electric blue crystals on the other, while yet another corset featuring a defined bustier dripping with silver chains just screamed Lady GaGa’s name. The corsets, while perhaps not intended to be worn to the grocery store, would look right at home in a music video. It goes without saying the models wore custom-made motorcycle helmets with long, blond ponytails sticking out to coordinate with their outfits. The Blonds’ collection of daring, sexy clothing and entertaining, high-voltage runway show once again proved that, when it comes to putting on a show during New York fashion week.
