Bora Aksu Fall 2012 bloomed with childhood memories through his pure but bold Vivian girls in silk jules and pussy bows. Pleated dresses in dusty pink, draped around the hips, highlighted the light-heartedness of the collection. “I wanted to open a window into a child’s world when we all had innocent but brave eyes,” states Bora Aksu.
The darker, wintery shades came in black and grey with layered heavy cotton coats and capes that carried the enchanting fairytale to more serious grounds. A splash of bright orange, fuchsia and ruby red was shown towards the end of the show as the music turned stronger and more upbeat.
A continuous and stunning force throughout the show was a 50’s floral wallpaper tapestry that appeared on several pieces, most memorably on a long-sleeved black evening dress with transparent layers. With a minimal make-up, untidy chignon and fluid collection, Bora Aksu’s childish yet mature and modern woman is most certainly one to follow this fall.
