Known for the grandeur of her designs and her impeccable attention to cut and form, Corrie Nielsen is fast become an inspirational highlight of London Fashion Week. Fusing dramatic texture with sculptural tailoring, the Fall 2012 collection drew influence from Nielsen's Scottish heritage, manifested in tartan fabrics and historically influenced silhouettes.
Draped jackets and puffball sleeves sat alongside sheer overlain blouses and dresses, contrasting the precision of cinched waists as well as sharply cut trousers. And, while the fusing of heritage with modernity garnered an admirable and innovative duality, an attention to detail alongside the striking use of texture and volume, particularly within the two finale gowns, added a dramatic edge to what was a strong, beautiful collection.
