WORDS - SHANNON BROYLES, PHOTOS COURTESY RACHEL COMEY

With her Fall 2012 collection, Rachel Comey lends her usual androgenous, New York perspective to the ladylike trends just seen on European runways. From the elegantly crafted Frenchtwists her models adorned, to full a-line skirts and dresses in vintage silhouettes, she crafted the perfect, Stepford wife. Well, not that perfect; it is Rachel Comey after all. It wouldn't be a true Comey show without some leather, pants with sheer plackets, backless blouses to show some skin, and of course black hues! She maintained her usual, Lower East sided self, while keeping on trend with the upstyled, 1950s trends we have been seeing this season. A perfect balance and a great way to kick off New York Fashion Week.
