Stacey Bendet created a fantastical dinner party atmosphere for her Alice + Olivia Fall 2012 presentation at Center 548. Featuring forty-four party-ready looks, a table laid with towering cakes and candelabras, and trays of Magnum ice cream bars, Belvedere cocktails, and Chandon rosé being carried throughout the space, the mood was nothing if not festive.

The Lolita-inspired collection, which veered away from Bendet’s signature pants to venture into evening gowns, was designed with the sweet girl with a bit of rock ‘n’ roll edge in mind. Signature Alice + Olivia style was present in looks such as an emerald green and black striped velvet pantsuit, a belted black and white colorblocked turtleneck dress, and a colorful sequin jacket over a multi-color silk blouse and skinny black metallic trousers. Cocktail dresses featured flounced skirts, peplums, bold prints, sequins, and leather. The gowns, while adding glamour to the collection, were still distinctly Alice + Olivia’s brand of sophisticated edge. With floor-length styles ranging from a demure black and nude lace long sleeved look with an open back to a body-skimming emerald green open-backed gown topped by a black leather bomber jacket to a dress featuring a strapless sweetheart neckline with an embellished and sheer accordion pleating, giving a peek-a-boo effect past the knees, one thing was clear: Alive + Olivia will be dressing young Hollywood both on and off the red carpet.
