WORDS - BRAD PALMER, PHOTOS COURTESY ATNONI & ALISON

At first glace, it could be assumed that the title for Antoni & Alison's Fall 2012 collection, 'Models walking up and down in dresses,' was a light hearted jest at the almost circus like commotion that has come to surround each season's fashion shows. On reflection, it was however an altogether more accurate description of the collection.

Dress followed dress followed dress as look after look descended the catwalk with only a handful of variations in cut and fabric. However, what at first description may sound repetitive, dull even, was quite the contrary as the simplicity of shape laid way for a focus on digital prints that created a sense of texture and depth with a distinctly scrapbook feeling.

Combining, complimenting and contrasting everything from cellophane to sequins, drawings, feathers, tweed and bin bags, the graphic prints of the collection inspired both a sense of bewilderment and admiration, created by the illusion of texture and the intriguing juxtaposition of the simple with the wonderfully not so simple.
