Birds of Paradise by Spijker en Spijkers Fall 2012 was a warm collection of female empowerment with the play of silky textures. Silk dupion, silk satin demura, silk wool blends and crepe de chin hugged the skin of the Marcel waved models in bright wide hairbands and black tight-socks. Scalloped Art Deco prints and cuts, and knee length pleated skirts with dropped waistlines brought a hint of the roaring twenties whereas the exotic birds embroidered on the midi dresses flew us to the colourful rainforests.

Real rainforest or London Fashion Week, Spikers en Spijkers took us on a small journey with its stripy buttoned-up shirts, ostrich feathered shoulder capes and black fur coats. The colour palette suggests we are going somewhere warm. Where? Not sure but it is definitely getting warmer.
