Walking through a hallway of holographic, tromp l'oeil chateau doors can only mean one thing: you have arrived at the MM6 Maison Martin Margiela presentation. Greeted by white coats, a labyrinth of mirrors, and white on white on white, MM6 hosted a generous turn-out, thanks to the haus' first ever boutique on Bleecker Street, here in New York. Perhaps one of the most constructive presentations of the Spring 2013 season thus far, said maze served as a gateway to showroom-esque displays of carefully curated neutrals (black, white and grey. Did I mentioned grey?) surprisingly feminine pastels, and an accessories collection made for the modern day 90s guru (think neon kicks, clear heels- a Margiela staple, and metallic chokers to make your inner Courtney Love proud.) Just as the last picture of crossbody bags in SS13's staple hue (white,) was snapped, the herd of fashion's utmost about-towners was corralled towards the runway for a methodic march of ethereal beauties, dressed head-to-toe in unstructured layers via maxi dress, tie-waist military outerwear, and surprisingly soft knitwear vests. Highlights included look one's structured collar, zip-up sweater in white, with just the slightest undertone of neon, radioactive yellow (and translucent,) ankle boots, and a silver maxi that added just a hint of the futuristic quality we love so much in a Margiela collection.
