Rolled-up jeans, fitted blazers and man bags of the most stylish variety. With just a quick glance around Milk Studios, it was clear that the crowd was awaiting Michael Bastian’s Spring 2013 collection. Bastian, the CFDA’s 2011 Menswear Designer of the Year, did not disappoint, presenting professional, relaxed and beach-ready looks. Colored blazers appeared in muted forest green and rose. Shirts and sweaters were layered, and often left unbuttoned. A tailored suit received an extra jolt of edge when paired with a plaid button-up. Skimpy swimwear mediated more covered-up looks. And, many models took to the runway in sunglasses. One thing is certain: Bastian rules the business of cool.
