Eco-friendly clothing innovator Laura Siegel proves once again that sustainable fashion doesn't mean boring with her latest collection for Spring 2013. Celebrated for collaborating with artisans in Asia and Latin America, Siegel channels the spirit of inhabitants of cacti-filled areas along with the crafts they practice in this collection. Of her recent creations, the designer says, "The collection is about life in the desert and what that means from different cultures perspectives between South America and India. Spring 2013 explores the creation of textiles and man's relationship to them and fuses techniques such as leather embossing, braiding and shibori tie-dying into effortless silhouettes."
The pieces are equal parts style, comfort and ethics in mostly neutral tones. Macromet fringe details are added to leather jackets and shorts while earthy colored and luxurious jersey dresses are embellished with neon stitch-work. Seigel's designs may be pulled from the desert but they are definitely city chic.
