Michael Bastian's Spring 2014 collection is about the French man, and if the French man's pants have pineapple prints on them, then it's a much more interesting France he's been to than what most people get from France. He states in his press release: "This season I wanted to do something more colorful, more joyous-- play around a bit more with pattern mixing and unexpected styling, in a loose, easier, sex way that typifies, to me, the best of French men's style. The inspiration initially came from observing the French guys in my life, as well as movies such as The Red Balloon, The Dreamers, and classic movies of Jacques Tati."
The result is a bohemian-preppy collection typical of Bastian’s style, with occasional playful prints to bring a bit of levity to menswear for spring.
