Marchesa's Spring 2014 collection takes a romantic journey via vintage inspiration. Everything soft is here: chantilly lace, tulle skirts, pastel floral embroidery, and pale pastels. The column gowns and tiered/fringed skirts do give the collection a sense of presence, which would make for great red-carpet moments as well.
The following show notes provide more detail about the collection:
Playful curiosities come to life in Marchesa’s Spring 2014 collection. Highlights of silk fringe and swinging pearl layers conjure the 1920’s, while handpainted florals are layered upon each other in delicate tulle over silk bias slip dresses to recall the 1930’s. Lace cut-out bralets peek through tea length dresses and overlays of transparent, loose silk organza tee shirts, beckoning shapes of the 1950’s.
Exquisite embellishments of silk ribbon roses and lace butterflies adorn vintage gold and silver re-embroidered lace. Bursts of color shine through in handpainted 3D flowers and dip-dyed featherplumes. Tuxedo collars and mother-of-pearl buttons are paired with soft drapes. Transparent tops are paired with both intricate tulle and lace detailed lingerie and pleated point d’esprit skirts with handmade organza flowers.
