Versace's Fall 2012 Haute Couture collection is notable for being the first Haute Couture collection that Donatella Versace has shown in a full runway form since her brother's loss in 1997. After taking inspiration from tarot cards and maybe with a bit of encouragement from Versace's recent successful H&M collaboration, the designer brings the full Versace glamazon effect to the Ritz hotel in Paris, the site where Gianni Versace showed their couture line for years.
The Atelier Versace line takes the house's design aesthetic and cranks it up to couture levels. PVC bands, bright jewel-toned prints, revealing cutouts and slits everywhere, and metallic embellishments are some of the elements that characterizes the collection distinctly for the brand. The Versace brand has always been about the strongest alpha females, with over-the-top sex appeal in their design, and this collection makes that clear.
