Opening New York fashion week Fall 2012 with a bang, with, of course, Nancy Sinatra's dramatic "Bang Bang (my baby shot me down)," Nicholas K's collection delivered a sultry show of tough exteriors layered over flowy, delicate pieces. She played with shades of gray, open backs, oversized outerwear, and pieced together ensembles to create quilt-like appearances and textures. Models donned masculine cowboy hats and edgy black boots as the monotone and layered ensembles flowed. Watching the collection was like visualizing a wild western film unfold, keeping the audience in-step and engaged, appropriately ending with "A Heart of Gold" as if we had indeed stumbled upon some treasure.
