A versatile line of separates for the downtown girl, the Spring/Summer 2012 Wayne collection emphasized harsh angles and heavy attitudes.
Knee-length cropped leather pants were a fresh take on leggings, while asymmetrical blazers, divinely tailored, gave our downtown girl a taste of professionalism.
There were black and white dresses with cowl necks that were draped just right, some of which had scraps of the opposite color slung about giving off the appearance of gun holsters. While this seems perfectly in line with our edgy alt-chic woman's style, the affect worked more successfully in some looks than others.
It was in the jackets where Wayne truly found success. One leather motorcycle jacket with a gleaming gold zipper appeared to have a cross-stitch pattern throughout and was truly one of the best pieces of the day. The same can be said for a cream blazer with deep slits for sleeves, so as to appear more like a cape merely resting on casual shoulders.
Halter-top dresses in a zany black and white stripe closed the show and offered a beautiful summation of the collection's aesthetic: edgy pieces with subtle femininity, the downtown girl's uniform from day to night.
