Fall 2012 ::

Whistles Fall 2012

Whistles Fall 2012 collection looks are out, and the British retailer continues with the sportswear intepretations on feminine forms as seen in their Pre-Fall 2012 collection.  Strong modern shapes combined with upscale fabrics while retaining an accessible price point is perfect for any fashionable woman.  The brand really needs to come to the US, as they could really fill a hole in the current market between high-street retailers and more traditional retailers.  The press release, enclosed below, gives all the relevant details about the collection.

"For Autumn Winter 2012 Whistles presents a collection inspired by modern sportswear, luxe fabrications and multi texturing on garments.  A masculine sensibility plays alongside feminine silhouettes.

For Outerwear a new shape is introduced, coats are shown with a soft rounded shoulder and raglan sleeve.  Leather piping and paneling add a luxe finish.  Contrasting fabrics continue in fitted overcoats, with sheepskin and leather set against soft woll in loose and tighter knitted textures.

The signature Whistles leather biker is visible in quilted and fitted styles.

For day, dresses are drop waisted with shirting collar or sporty in jersey fabrics and knits, smartened with a leather piping detail or a contrasting pocket.  Simple shift shapes take on an ovoid feel.  Shirting continues to be a key element within the collection, taking on a masculine feel in loose fitting shapes with an extended back.

Crepe adds form to soft trousers and skirts featuring drawstring waists.  Signature pieces include a track pant in soft black leather with silver toggle detailing.

Knitwear is textural, with dresses in voucle and kick ruffle hems finished with leather detailing or lace inserts.  Sweaters are oversized and come in marled mohair and leather paneling in relaxed silhouettes.

Jacquard and brocade fabrics prevail across both day and eveningwear, with full skirted minis and dresses with fitted bodices featuring 'unbrellla' skirts.  Black silk spot jacquard is panelled in two different spot scales features on several pieces including a peplum waisted evening dress.

The colour palette begins with soft mints, greys and pale blues, moving in to navy, rich forest green gold, bronze and ash toned pinks for Christmas.  Vermillion is an accent colour throughout, in knits and sweeping evening gowns.  Color blocking continues and is updated with prints and contrasting fabrics.

Key prints include a crocodile inspired textural print, micro pip and lace prints, all used with sport or colour blocked details to give a modern feel."
