Nicholas K Spring 2011

WORDS - MEGAN AVERBUCH, PICTURES - COMING SOON

Nicholas K, the collaboration between brother-sister duo Christopher and Nicholas Kunz, was the first show at the new Lincoln Center location to kick off New York Fashion Week.

Their Spring 2011 line continues with the brands utilitarian themes, incorporating a palette of mostly muted grays, greens, and beige to form a reinvention of the current military look that was more Desert Storm than anything else.  Yet, the draped cotton fabric looked comfortable even with the parade of lace-up boots storming down the runway.

There were some new takes on basic pieces, with lots of layering and lots of jackets and lots of hoods.  Many of the pieces were worn in different ways, either draped different or wrapped as shirts.  The detachable sleeves on matching mens and women's jackets make perfect Spring vests.

Overall, the line seemed like very wearable to kick off 2011.
