Marc Jacobs Fall 2010

The Mad Men world is fully upon us.  As the modern depression lingers and fashion landscape deconstructs towards a more traditional form, certain innovators are producing designs with genuine reverence to the simplicity of the pared-down basic dress.  When experimental fancy-schmancy dresses lose any feminine charm, it becomes time to look back.

Marc Jacobs, recently known for fancy-schmancy mashups, introduced a beautiful back-to-basics reset through the use of 50's big skirts and subdued tones.  Retro elements of tweed, check, and velvet work together with feminine sheer to define an overall vintage-y romantic feel.  Lovers of modern shiny things weren't left out, though as the show ended up with a few items comprised of metallics, sequins and even plastic.  Accessories highlights include the cute Tavi glasses worn by a few of the models, and a cotton-ball lined Marc Jacobs handbags.

Overall, this collection will help define the new look of this decade.
