Again we bear witness to the exquisite prints that are signature to Hoffman. Ethnic, exotic and wild, there is no surprise that world travel plays a huge part in this designer's inspirations. This season, we feel a pull of Egyptian influence, with geometrics, hieroglyphics, Ibis bird, feathers and King Tut motifs present. Intricate beading, often featuring the famed "evil eye" (which spans across many ethnicities) and fringe, as well as totem poles and eagles feel tribal and characteristic of the native americans. Sexy cutouts are edgy and unexpected, yet impeccable fit clearly requires and displays excellent craftsmanship.
Nature and fantasy keep the collection young with a "carefree hippie" vibe. Fluorescent colors adorn the garments as well as the models' faces, with tribal symbols painted on their foreheads. Arms filled with wooden and textured bangles, beachy fishtail braids (which continue to be the choice of hair trend this fashion week) and pulsing african beats round out the ambiance of the event (Walk like an Egyptian plays to drive Hoffman's point home). Gorgeous crochets, Maxi dresses, caftans, and lightweight cover-ups of the sheer, billowing type, prove Hoffman is also relative outside of swimsuits and in the clothing market. She has effortlessly taken the of-the-moment trends and applied them directly to her brand. Hoffman has certainly shown that she will continue to prevail at the top of the trend charts for the season to come.
