G-Star Raw Fall 2010

I wish the Dutch luxury denim brand G-Star had more of a distribution in the US.  Popular in Europe and elsewhere but rarely seen in the US, their dark, abstract denim cuts used in conjunction with more formal work and evening wear seem ideal for our FutureClaw audience.  Their fall season shifted somewhat to brighter yellows, blues, and greens, with silhouettes based inspired by 19th century stagecoach uniforms.  To complement the denim, canvas trenches and cashmere knits were sprinkled throughout, and there were a couple of technical innovations: one with a new high-tech metallic bronze and blue treatment and another with a new 'denim-felt' finishing comprised of pulling wool through a denim base.  Collection highlights include leather straps used on some of the pieces, and a 70's plaid mens denim coat with aforementioned strap.

Good news: as I finished typing this, I received a press release stating G-Star is expanding US distribution from 12 stores to 50 over the next 5 years.
