Diane von Furstenburg's fall 2010 collection is a great example of the menswear-on-womenswear trend that's showing up for the season, and how to do it right.
The notes for the show titled "Metarmorphosis" states she's "always wanted to live a man's life in a woman's body." The opening look with a rosette-encrusted bolero over a gray blazer set her strategy of by directly mixing feminine and masculine elements. The run-of-show gave away as much, with looks described as "Golden armor chiffon on satin dress", or "Black chainmail embellished velvet dress" and other scary+pretty combinations. But not to worry, as the golden armor and chainmail were nothing more than metallic-jewel embellishments, and the bright prints on the dramatic wrap dresses kept the feminine side firmly authoritative in this collection.
