Colombian designer Paula Saavedra showed her 2011 Caffé swimwear collection in Miami. Targeting an upscale jet-setting clientele, the trendy collection looks back to 70's glam with satiny fabrics and gold hardware accents, while twisted, braided and knotted fabric evoked some of the tribal movement. Meanwhile, a key feature of the collection is the seamless stitching that enables many of the pieces to be reversible, providing a utilitarian gift to the fashionable Caffé fan.
MEGAN - I'm here with Paula of Caffé swimwear, we just saw her show, and it was lovely, and I just wanted to ask really about fit, because I know you use a seamless stitch. Could you explain that technology to us and how fit is important to swimwear?
PAULA - Yes. Fit is the most important thing. A woman needs to feel comfortable in order to feel sexy. So we have this seamless, it has no stitching, so it won't dig up into your hips, and it makes them reversible. Most of our suits are reversible.
MEGAN - Oh that's great, so you could use it. Are they different colors on the inside-outside then?
PAULA - Yes, most of them.
MEGAN - And it's about a luxurious getaway, this collection. Can you explain the inspiration behind it? The coloring?
PAULA - It's a very 70's glamour inspired, but it has a lot of touches of tribal. So, it's very, I would say.. embellish oriented.
